Martha and Bayardo Argüello, who are recovering from COVID and isolating at their home in the Mission District, are serenaded in honor of Martha’s 90th birthday, Saturday February 20, 2021. Their son, Erick Arguello, (co-founder of the Calle 24 Latino Cultural District) unable to be in the same room as them since March 2020, he hired the mariachis to brighten his parents' spirits. Erick’s sister, Martha Lorena, whom he calls “the hero of the family” has been their main caretaker and the point of contact between her parents and the rest of the family for the duration of the pandemic.
