Jardin de las Mariposas visit
Jenri Jose Juarez Villegas, a 16 year-old refugee from El Salvador, notices a patch of green U.S. soil visible between the Tijuana skyline from the backyard of Jardín de las Mariposas, an LGBT drug and alcohol recovery center that recently started opening its doors to LGBT refugees, March 15, 2019. Juarez fled El Salvador after gangs kidnapped his younger sister and threatened his parents. After paying a ransom, his sister was returned, heavily bruised. All his family members fled separately and he does not know any of their whereabouts, or whether they are alive.
